This Privacy Policy explains how FunWithText ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects information when you visit funwithtext.com (the "Website"). We aim to keep this policy short, clear and honest.

1. Who we are

FunWithText is a trading name operating the free online text-tools website at funwithtext.com. We are the data controller for personal data processed through the Website within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Summary — what you really need to know

• Most tools run entirely in your browser. Text you type into tools like the case converters, PII Sanitizer, password generator, Paste Detector, calendar, calculator, QR generator and JSON/CSV converters is processed locally on your device and is never sent to us.
• A few AI-powered tools send text to our backend. If you use tools marked as AI-powered (such as "AI Tools", "AI Text Cleanup" or certain scanner features), the text you submit is transmitted to our backend API (funwithtext-backend.vercel.app) to perform the analysis, and may be processed by third-party AI providers.
• We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage. This sets cookies and collects anonymised usage data.
• We participate in affiliate programs (e.g. Impact, Google Workspace Partner Program). Affiliate links may place cookies to attribute referrals.
• We do not sell your personal data.

3. What information we collect

3.1 Information you provide directly

• Text input to AI tools. When you submit text to one of our AI-powered features, that text is sent to our backend and to the AI provider(s) that perform the analysis (see Section 6). We do not intentionally store this text beyond what is needed to return a response, although short-term server logs may briefly record request metadata.
• Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and message contents.

3.2 Information collected automatically

• Usage and device data via Google Analytics 4: pages viewed, session duration, approximate geography (country / region), browser, operating system, device type, referrer, and a pseudonymous client identifier.
• Server logs for the AI backend, which may include IP address, request timestamp and user-agent, for security and abuse prevention.
• Affiliate tracking data set by affiliate networks (e.g. Impact) when you arrive via or click on an affiliate link.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We and selected third parties use cookies and similar technologies on the Website. Broadly they fall into three categories:

• Strictly necessary — required for the Website to function. No consent required.
• Analytics — Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) used to measure traffic.
• Marketing / affiliate — cookies set by affiliate networks (e.g. Impact) to attribute referrals.

You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where applicable, opt out of Google Analytics via the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

6. Third parties we share data with

We only share personal data with service providers that help us run the Website. The main ones are:

• Google (Google Analytics, Google Fonts CDN, Google Workspace Partner Program) — analytics and affiliate attribution. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Vercel Inc. — hosts our backend API (funwithtext-backend.vercel.app) used by the AI-powered features. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
• AI model providers (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic or equivalents) — may process text submitted to AI features to generate a response. These providers process data as our sub-processors and are contractually bound not to use your inputs to train their models, where their terms allow.
• Impact (impact.com) — affiliate tracking network. See Impact's Privacy Policy.
• jsDelivr / Cloudflare — content delivery network used to serve static assets.
• GitHub Pages — hosts the static Website content.

7. International transfers

Some of our service providers are located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), primarily in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, where applicable.

8. How long we keep data

• Text submitted to AI tools: processed in real time and not intentionally retained by us beyond the request. Short-term infrastructure logs may retain request metadata for up to 30 days.
• Analytics data: retained according to our Google Analytics settings (up to 14 months by default).
• Support emails: retained for as long as reasonably necessary to handle your enquiry and for legitimate record-keeping (typically up to 2 years).

9. Your rights under the GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

• Right of access — obtain a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification — correct inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure — ask us to delete your data.
• Right to restrict or object to processing.
• Right to data portability.
• Right to withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
• Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence.

10. Children

The Website is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the Website.
